SUMMARY:Palio del Torrione
DESCRIPTION:The Palio del Torrione was established in 1997. The historical reenactment draws inspiration from two elements of the town’s history: the legend of a dragon’s presence in its territory and the presence of Caterina Sforza. \nEach of the four wards into which the town is divided must designate one lady and four knights to contest the Palio. The ladies of the drawn wards ascend the castle in their respective tower\, armed with a spear they will have to pierce the dragon placed in the center of the castle. \nThe knights at the base of the castle will have to push their checkers’ tower as close to the target as possible\, hindering the advance of the opposing ward. The race is held in two heats\, in case of a tie\, a run-off will be held. The ward that has made the highest score and won the most heats wins the Palio. \nHistorical parade\, games for young and old\, events\, and several food stations. \nFor more information\, please visit www.paliodeltorrione.it and https://www.proloco-mordano.it/

SUMMARY:Spring Festival and Allegorical Plaster Floats of Celebration and Thought
DESCRIPTION:The History of the Festival\nThe Spring Festival and Floats of Thought was born in 1891 as the Mid-Lent Festival.\nThe festival included the burning of the Old Woman and a procession of carnival-style floats celebrating nature’s awakening.\nWhen Mid-Lent Festivals were abolished in 1908 by the Clergy\, in Casola Valsenio it was transformed into the Spring Festival.\nThe floats also transformed: from carnival floats to allegorical floats\, designed to entertain and educate by representing events and ideas through static sculptural figures on wooden structures\, wicker\, and plaster\, mounted on Romagna agricultural carts.\nAn original idea that allows everyone to communicate in a simple and effective way\, even modern ideas and concepts not accessible to all. \nYears pass and the “floats of thought” become increasingly larger\, taking on highly impressive forms. Even the decorated oxen give way to tractors.\nBut even today\, as at the beginning of the century\, the three floats are built by three competing societies. The same materials are used in their construction\, while costumed figures remain motionless in sculptural poses throughout the parade.\nEach living tableau is a page of popular literature that appears as a curious discourse addressed to the town square by the float builders\, through the physical dimension of allegory. \nThe Festival Today\nOn April 25 from morning\, spring market\, exhibitions\, screenings\, artinstallations\, children’s workshops\, and food stands (lunch and dinner). \nIn the afternoon\, the Allegorical Floats begin their DAYTIME PARADE through the town’s streets\, celebrating events and figures from history and current affairs\, accompanied by the “Relazioni\,” pieces of popular literature that emphasize their meaning and make the artistically expressed ideas more powerful. The figures remain motionless in sculptural poses throughout the parade: the human body is molded as if it were plaster\, merging with the float itself.\nAfter the parade\, debates\, meetings\, aperitifs\, and music until evening!\n \nIn the evening\, the trial and burning of the “Segavecchia”. \nOn Friday\, May 1 the SPRING NIGHT AND NIGHTTIME PARADE takes place\, where the three plaster giants will be displayed under spotlights that will further enhance their architectural forms accompanied by evocative music. \nAt the end of the parade\, the awarding of the winning float with a big party until morning.\nThe night parade will also feature videos and images from past editions located throughout the historic center and accessible to all for free.\n \nFor more information\nPro Loco Casola Valsenio\nTel. +39 0546 73033

SUMMARY:Romagna in Bloom in Fontanelice
DESCRIPTION:The third edition\, from May 1 to 24\, features nine afternoon events distributed across weekends\, visiting Modigliana\, Faenza\, Forlì and Ravenna at Torraccia\, as well as Fontanelice\, Cotignola\, Santa Sofia\, Bertinoro and the Ca’ Carnè refuge in the hills of Brisighella. \nThe format remains true to its origins: natural settings\, no large stages\, minimal lighting and a musical program that combines singer-songwriters\, folk tradition and experimental music. The ticket price of 5 euros also confirms the spirit of this initiative organized with the support of the Emilia-Romagna Region\, in collaboration with ATER Fondazione\, the Provinces of Ravenna and Forlì-Cesena and the participating municipalities. \nThe first event is Friday\, May 1 in Fontanelice\, at the Torre di Fornione\, a medieval structure that still bears witness to the presence of the Alidosi family\, lords of Castel del Rio. In this area of the Bolognese Apennines\, where Etruscan and Roman traces have been found\, Davide Ambrogio will perform—a multi-instrumentalist from Calabria who in recent years has built an original path starting from the oral tradition of his land. His work combines archaic singing\, acoustic instruments and contemporary sensibility; his recent album Mater Nullius reflects on the relationship between man and nature\, a theme that finds natural resonance in the setting of this festival. Opening the afternoon will be Laura Agnusdei\, a saxophonist who moves between improvisation\, jazz and electronic music. \nDiscover the full program: https://www.ravennafestival.org/romagna-in-fiore-iii-edizione-1-24-maggio/

SUMMARY:Romagna in Fiore in Faenza
DESCRIPTION:Romagna in Fiore returns\, the green soul of the Ravenna Festival: nine events for the third edition\, from May 1 to 24. \nCreated by the Ravenna Festival in 2024 to support the areas severely affected by the previous year’s floods\, it has already established itself as one of the most beloved and anticipated segments for the public. Eco-sustainable\, widespread\, and deeply connected to local communities\, Romagna in Fiore returns this year with a calendar of afternoon events spread across four weekends in nine different locations throughout Romagna. \nThe route once again visits Modigliana\, Faenza\, Forlì\, and Ravenna (at the Torraccia)\, also extending to Fontanelice\, Cotignola\, Santa Sofia\, Bertinoro\, and the Ca’ Carnè Refuge\, near Brisighella. \nThe performance venues are outdoor spaces accessible only on foot or by bicycle; there are no bulky stages or artificial lights\, in keeping with the philosophy of this special festival. \nThe fourth stage brings the festival back to Faenza: on Saturday\, May 9\, we return to the famous capital of ceramics\, in Castel Raniero\, a place rich in history where a heliotherapy colony was established between 1926 and 1932\, and which today also hosts the well-known folk festival La Musica nelle Aie. The stage will feature Motta\, one of the most representative singer-songwriters of the millennial generation and one of the most recognizable voices on the new Italian songwriting scene. He first caught the public’s attention ten years ago with the album La fine dei vent’anni\, a debut capable of blending a rock soul\, introspective writing\, and pop melody\, which was awarded the Targa Tenco for best debut work. \nDiscover the full program\nhttps://www.ravennafestival.org/romagna-in-fiore-iii-edizione-1-24-maggio/

SUMMARY:Pentecost Festival
DESCRIPTION:Ancient religious and civic celebration.\nThe Pentecost Festival is a town square celebration whose origins (1631 A.D.) stem from a vow made by the people of Castel Bolognese to the Madonna of the Conception for protection from the plague. \nThe festival has a unique origin. In 1630\, a terrible plague ravaged Romagna. However\, it is said that thanks to the intervention of the Madonna of the Conception\, the town of Castel Bolognese was miraculously spared from the misfortune.\nThe citizens turned to her in those days with heartfelt supplications and devout prayers. \nOn June 15 of that same year\, to preserve the memory of the Grace received\, the people of Castel Bolognese made a unique popular vow: during the three days of Pentecost\, the miraculous Sacred Image of the Conception would be celebrated every year. \nOver the centuries\, the popular celebration has never lost its original character. Indeed\, the religious meaning that inspires these festive days has always been maintained. \nToday\, the Pentecost Festival is an event that combines local culture with musical performances featuring nationally renowned artists\, as well as an excellent food stand where Romagna cuisine takes center stage. \nThe five days of Pentecost\, from May 21 to 25\, 2026\, transform the renovated Piazza Bernardi and the historic center of Castel Bolognese into the heart of Romagna tradition with a program of events that never ceases to amaze. \nPDF – DOWNLOAD DETAILED PROGRAM \nFor more information\nWebsite: http://castelbologneseproloco.blogspot.it/\nEmail: prolococastelb@libero.it

SUMMARY:Calma e Gesso
DESCRIPTION:The Art of Living Slowly\n\nThe first edition of Calma e Gesso is a multisensory festival\, on a human scale\, where time remains suspended and not rigidly determined. A genuine and spontaneous approach invites you to follow the rhythms of nature and set aside the regular ticking of clocks and daily routines. A journey backward\, “from the universe of precision to the world of approximation\,” to quote philosopher Alexandre Koyré. \nThe schedule will follow nature’s rhythms: participatory activities and routes—free or guided—will begin\, as far as possible\, without phones and without satellite watches.
