History of the Festival

It has been held in Casalfiumanese since 1925, first in conjunction with the St. Joseph’s Cattle Fair, which dates back to 1738.
The then mayor, Count Alessandretti, arranged for dumplings to be distributed to the children so that they could participate in the festivities along with the adults.
Hence the tradition of throwing these typical sweets filled with jam or mustard on those present.
It was a festive occasion for the whole village and was celebrated with hearty lunches.

The Festival Today

Today the fair has been discontinued and the event takes place on the Sunday closest to March 19.
On this day, ravioli, the typical local jam-filled sweets, are thrown to the crowd.
This is surrounded with performances and floats, under the watchful eye of the so-called “Count Raviolone,” a character created to entertain and amuse the public while waiting for the distribution of ravioli.
This year also features an additional day of celebration: Saturday, March 21 is the “Night Before the Raviolo”, with music and food stands to liven up the evening.

On the morning of March 22, the competitive Trail begins for the most trained participants, or a simple walk for those who wish to join one of the valley’s most popular festivals. The start is scheduled for 10:00 AM on March 22 with two participation options. On the one hand, the 16-kilometer competitive trail, with registration already available at www.endu.net, and on the other hand, the 10-kilometer non-competitive walk with participant registration on site.
