Chestnut Festival
11 October - 1 November
This year marks a special anniversary: 70 years have passed since the first edition of a festival that represents the roots, history, and identity of our territory.
The Marrone di Castel del Rio IGP is a fruit whose origins date back to the Middle Ages, when chestnut groves were called “bread trees” due to their importance in the local diet.
Over the centuries, chestnut cultivation has sustained the economic life of the valley, leading to the foundation of the Consorzio Castanicoltori in 1985. Today, this unique product is IGP certified and stands as the symbol of a tradition that continues to thrive thanks in part to our Sagra.
When: October 11 – 18 – 25, 2026 and November 1, 2026
In the square, you will find the Casetta dei Dolci, the traditional Market, Chestnut Beer, and the legendary Bruciati tossed in large pans by our Marronai, the guardians of a centuries-old tradition.
