Feast of Forgotten Fruits of Casola Valsenio
10 October - 11 October
Exhibition market of autumn products and ancient fruits.
The Forgotten Fruits Festival of Casola Valsenio returns, the traditional event dedicated to the rediscovery of those fruits that are no longer in common use.
During the second and third weekends of October (10-11 and 17-18), farmers from Casola display autumn fruits harvested from ancient plants, in a setting that evokes the cultural and folkloric aspects of rural life from the past.
The protagonists will be them: medlars, azeroles, sorbs, avellanes, chestnuts, strawberry trees, dogwoods and all the other small autumn fruits, forgotten in the transition from agricultural to industrial society.
The Marrone of Casola Valsenio will also be a protagonist of the Forgotten Fruits Festival. It can be purchased directly from the producers, freshly harvested from the chestnut grove, in an authentic zero-kilometer experience that is difficult to replicate in other places or events.
Special attention will be paid to children’s entertainment; workshops in small carpentry, cookie making, a variety of fun activities, and numerous street performers and musicians from all over Italy
There will also be an exhibition and sale of fruit plants from the past, intended to embellish parks and gardens.
Furthermore, there will be shows, exhibitions, and tastings.
