Halloween – Samhain Celtic New Year’s Eve

Musical performances, processions, and battles will bring the Celtic New Year 2025 to life!
In the Romagna of old, the passage from October to November was considered the New Year.
The origin of this calendar start date was Celtic (the same as American Halloween night). It was believed that the dead returned to earth to “set everything right” after the conclusion of the agricultural production cycle and thus prepared for the next one.
The Riolo night, the first in Italy and scheduled for October 31, increasingly rediscovers the meaning of its origins.
Throughout the town, you will find a dimension somewhat outside of real time, with reconstructions of ancient Celtic villages and their rituals.
The main theme is always the eternal struggle between good and evil, with clashes of fantastic creatures and parades through the town streets.
At the food stands, you can taste traditional dishes and fine local wine, also available in its mulled wine variant.
Various markets will also be set up with countryside products and other items strictly related to the Celtic theme.
The music will be performed by powerful drum bands accompanying the multiple parades of performance groups.
At approximately midnight on October 31, the “final clash.” Evil against the forces of triumphant good and the evocative burning of the monster in the moat of the Fortress.
And to conclude this magnificent evening, an explosion of fireworks from inside the castle.
